With La Roue Tourangelle ending in a bunch sprint, it was not a race for Pierrick Fedrigo but the Bretagne rider still managed to defend his overall lead in the Coupe de France series. His teammate Jonathan Hivert finished 13th in the sprint as the best rider from the team.
"It was not easy at first," Hivert told Directvelo. "We were cold, there was plenty of rain, not only a few drops. I was a little lazy early in the race. The advantage in a 200km race is that we have the time to go through several phases. If you are is not good at first, it does not mean you will have sore legs throughout the entire race. The body has time to relax during four-five hours of effort. It also takes time for the body to digest my food because I eat a lot in the morning. I wanted to attack before the finale to avoid a bunch sprint, but it did not work. I did what I could. My place is a bit anonymous and I could not take risks in the turns today. I slipped a lot. It hampered me in the final circuit but it's my fault."
"I had a chain problem 15km from the finish," Fedrigo told Directvelo. "I felt that something was wrong and that it was going to break. So I could not force too much in the final part. I'm disappointed because I was not able to schore points for the Coupe de France. But the races that will suit me arrive later in Brittany [Plumelec and Boucles de l'Aine]. That's where I'll have to earn a buffer. Being the leader of the Coupe de France is a source of motivation for the team. At least we fights for something, we need to look for results. Inevitably it becomes a target."
