The demises of Vacansoleil and Sojasun may now bring the Feillu brothers back together on the same team. Both Romain and Brice are left without a contract for next season and while the former has been announced as an official signing of the Bretagne-Seche team, the latter is also rumoured to be in contact with the French squad.

The Feillu brothers burst onto the scene when they were both part of the Agritubel squad and excelled in different disciplines of the sport. While older brother Romain emerged as one of the most talented French sprinters and wore the yellow jersey for a day in the 2008 Tour de France, younger brother Brice excelled on the climbs and won the big mountain stage to Andorra in the 2009 edition of the world's biggest bike race.

When Agritubel folded, the duo signed a contract with Vacansoleil. While Romain enjoyed what was possible his most successful results of his career during the first years at the Dutch squad, Brice struggled to find his former level and left the team after just one season to join Leopard-Trek.

Since then the two brothers have been riding on different teams with Romain staying at Vacansoleil and Brice having raced for Sojasun for the last two years. However, those teams are both folding at the end of the season and this may now reunite the brothers.

French pro continental team Bretagne-Seche has today announced that they have signed a contract with Romain who hopes to get his career back on track after a couple of difficult and injury-plagued seasons. The Frenchman is expected to bolster the team in the sprinting area and an important addition in the quest to get invited for next year's Tour de France.

At the same time, Brice is rumoured to also be negotiating with the French squad. Having originally hoped that his Sojasun team would be rescued, he is not looking for a new team.

"I always hoped [that Sojasun would survive] but I knew it would be complicated," he was admitted to La Nouvelle Republique yesterday. "It's pretty hard right now to find sponsors in cycling. The market stagnates."

"There are very few teams that still have a few open spots," he added when asked about his own future. "But some reduce their rosters for financial reasons.  I have contacts with both French and foreign teams.  But for now, nothing has been signed. This could happen in the next two weeks. I am confident but you never know."

Alongside the signing of Romain Feillu, Bretagne has today announced that talented Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen has extended his contract for another year.

Surprisingly, the team didn't figure on the list of teams that have applied for a pro continental license. Apparently, it only missed out due to a minor mistake and the team is still confident that it will remain at its current level and be in the running for a wild card invitation for the Tour de France.
