Brice Feillu finished the last stage of Tour de l’Ain as number five together with a front group. It moves him up in the final GC to finish as number 12. He was 3 minutes and 38 seconds down on overall winner Bert-Jan Lindeman of Rabobank Continental Team.
And Brice Feillu tried to get away from the other guys in the GC. It succeeded for him until the other favourites started to make some moves.
“I was really good. In the break I felt pretty good. It has been difficult since the Tour because I finished with an injury. I came here with four or five riders only. It was a bit limited. I still had a little annoying pain in my muscle. We don’t think about it when we win anyway. Now I would like to have to or three resting days,” Brice Feillu said to DirectVelo.
Feillu is also happy to come out of the Tour de France with his current form. He says it’s never easy after a Tour de France.
“Apart from that I had good legs. I’m pretty happy because it’s never easy after a Tour de France. Yesterday, I unfortunately tried it all for nothing. I tried to keep myself up on the marks, but they caught us at the end of the stage. When I saw that Alaphilippe was with them I thought he would be hard to beat. But we managed to get away on the stage and we don’t regret a thing. The four of us could have done something because the yellow jersey team didn’t do anything. AG2R raced, but it wasn’t in our advantage. But all in all it’s looking good,” Feillu finished.
