Romain Feillu whose contract with Fortuneo Vital Concept (formerly Bretagne-Séché Environnement) was mnot renewed, will be riding in the third division next season. L'Equipe reportes that the French sprinter has signed a one-yer contract with HP BTP-Auber 93.
Feillu enjoyed his sporting highlight in 2008 when he wore the yellow jersey at the Tour de France for a day and had an incredible 2011 season while riding for Vacansoleil. Since then he has had to deal with a number of health issues and has been unable to reach similar heights.
Feillu has spent the last years with Bretagne and seemed to be back on track when he won the Route Adelie Vitré in the spring. However, he was not selected for the Tour de France and did nothing to hide his frustration which ultimately contributed to the parties parting ways.
In his new team, Feillu will replace French champion Steven Tronet who will move in the opposite direction after having signed a contract with Fortuneo-Vital Concept.
