Fabio Felline, an Italian prospect who just signed with Trek team, is very excited to join a team with a great captain(Fabian Cancellara), and also hopes to have his own chance as well, as he tells SpazioCiclismo.
A Turin-borned rider, Felline spent two years in Footon-Servetto-Fuji, during which he attended Tour at only 20 years old. Then he joined Androni team, and got several promising results, as a result, Trek offered him the opportunity to join, "I am very happy because a team of the caliber of the Trek wanted me, and gave me the opportunity to sign a two-year contract," says the Italian, "In the wake of the problems that cycling is experiencing at this time, this contract becomes more and more valuable."
23-year-old Felline mainly uses his sprint ability, as well as being able to climb over small hills, to obtain results. Among them are semi-classics include Giro dell'Appennino and Memorial Marco Pantani, as well as a stage in this year's Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali. The Italian prospect had experience in cobbled classics, too. "I got a 10th place in E3 Harelbeke [in 2010, my neo-pro season], I was unlucky in the end because I was in a group of 15, but I punctured 5 kilometers from the finish. Remembering those races is a positive thing to me, even with regard to the cobbles."
Naturally, Felline would like to win "the dream race", "Like all Italians, I would like to win the Milan-San Remo, a race which I am very fond of since childhood, and also because it is near my home." About the inclusion of the new climb in MSR, Felline is not so happy though, despite it will likely increase his own chance, "For me it is certainly positive if I am in the best condition. Honestly though, it's a shame because I think that the classic should have a course that should not be changed."
Felline has a detailed plan for 2014 as well, at least for spring campaign. Tour Down Under, Tour of the Mediterranean, Strade Bianche, Tirreno-Adriatico and finally Milan-San Remo will be the Turin-borned rider's schedule. Of course, he'll target Giro as well. Felline got two second places in stages of 2012 and 2013 Giro, respectively. Next year he'll surely hope he can finally win one.
