Fabio Felline (1990) is 25 years old and ready for his seventh professional season, the third in the WorldTour with Trek-Segafredo. The Italian took a step forward in 2015 but he wants more and will return to the Tour de France for the first time since 2010.
Felline has revealed his calendar in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport: Challenge Mallorca, Vuelta a Andalusia, Paris-Nice, Milan-San Remo, Tour of the Basque Country and the Ardennes Classics, with the Tour de Romandie being an option after the one-day races. In the second part, he will do the Tour of California, the Italian Championships and the Tour de France. He will "chase stage wins" in the French race which he has only done once, in his first year with Footon-Servetto.
In 2015 he obtained three victories, the time trial at the Criterium International, a stage of the Tour of the Basque Country and the GP Fourmies, and also got numerous places of honour. "The classics were my greatest failure of 2015. Iarrived tired and I made tactical mistakes in the races. For me everything was new, I felt the pressure. This year I have given signs of improvement everywhere, especially in the time trial, but I was not successful in the classics," he laments.
Felline has proved himself to be a versatile rider.
"I have a strange relationship with the mountains: I am a climber with my head, I really like the climbs, but I do not have the physical ability. I don't think I can't ride for GC in a grand tour. But it's possible in a one-week race. The fifth place in the Eneco Tour has taught me a lot," he tells La Gazzetta .
