After Oleg Tinkov revealed 2016 will be his last year in the sport, Steven De Jongh, sports director of the team, revealed he was hoping to start his own team for 2017. Meanwhile, manager Stefano Feltrin will try and secure sponsorship to keep the team alive.
“Owner and a sponsor? Yeah, for sure, I need them both. An owner without a sponsor doesn’t do us any good,” the Italian told Cycling Weekly.
Currently, the whole roster is only under contract bar Peter Sagan and his brother Juraj, Rafal Majka and neo-pros Erik Baska and Michael Gogl, so Feltrin has some room in terms of salary.
Feltrin says that his job remains unchanged, as his job is always to look for potential buyers of the team, new riders and sponsors each season.
“My work? What I’ve always done, nothing changes. The project for the bank was three years, we knew this three years ago, also last year. Now we have one year of time to search.”
