In Palm al Jumeirah, Davide Cimolai was close to the top ten in the second stage of the Dubai Tour but missed it. Instead, the Lampre-Merida protagonist was new signing Chun Kai Feng

The Taiwanese rider escaped from the bunch in the early part of the race together with Frattini, Chtioui, Eisel and Battaglin. Eisel and Battaglin soon dropped back so the trio Feng-Chtioui-Frattini led rhe stage until 50km to go, when Feng and Frattini surrendered to the chase of the bunch. Chtioui resisted for another 40 m, but with10km to go the group was back together and so it was bunch sprint time again.

Cimolai crossed the finish line in 11th position.
