In Palm al Jumeirah, Davide Cimolai was close to the top ten in the second stage of the Dubai Tour but missed it. Instead, the Lampre-Merida protagonist was new signing Chun Kai Feng
The Taiwanese rider escaped from the bunch in the early part of the race together with Frattini, Chtioui, Eisel and Battaglin. Eisel and Battaglin soon dropped back so the trio Feng-Chtioui-Frattini led rhe stage until 50km to go, when Feng and Frattini surrendered to the chase of the bunch. Chtioui resisted for another 40 m, but with10km to go the group was back together and so it was bunch sprint time again.
Cimolai crossed the finish line in 11th position.
“Many compliments to Feng: being focused on the attacks in the early kilometers and joining the good breakaway is never easy," sports director Marco Marzano commented." In addition, Chun Kai is living days full of emotions: he’s learning a lot of things and he’s demonstrating his cycling qualities, as he did in today's stage. The third stage will be the most important for the final classification, our captain will be Pozzato."
