Koldo Fernández de Larrea (Garmin) begins his third season with the team, with the main job of protecting and supporting the team leaders, especially Daniel Martin and Andrew Talansky, a task that he has done  the previous two years and naturally assumes.

The man from Alaves, although based in Bizkaia, could develop their preseason " no problem now " and got his first outing in the Challenge de Mallorca "Initially I did not plan to ride in Mallorca, but as I came 7th second day so that was good"

Koldo confirms his calendar: Catalonia , Basque Country, a concentration at height, Romandie and Giro. "The team are happy with the work I did last year with Talansky and Dani Martin, and have asked me to do the same, so I repeat the calendar with them. I'm with Martin in Catalunya, with Danielson in Basque Country, with Talansky in Romandie, and again with Martin in the Giro " he says.

His role changed when moved from Euskaltel-Euskadi to Garmin in 2012 and he has lost weight to be more useful in the mountains. "I'm training on hills to get better, I'm focused on improving on the climbs that is what the team asks me, otherwise you have those days ," he explains .

Your goals change and put aside their own ambitions and prioritize teamwork. "In principle I forget personal victories. Before you say that winning a stage. Anything can happen, to put me into a getaway and can win. Mostly my leaders are happy with the work I do," he says.

Koldo describes his' three team leaders "for the Grand Tours." Talansky is the youngest,  he may represent in the future, although he was second in Paris-Nice, Romandie and top ten in the Tour. He is a particularly methodical rider, it costs a bit steep rises ; outstretched and cronos them very well, " he says.

"Martin is different, maybe not so regular, but suddenly one day you take the hat and leaves you stunned, as in Liege or the Tour , as well as winning the Volta stage. He made an excellent campaign"says about the Irishman.

"Hesjedal is very inward. Last year he ended up not having a good year but the Giro could change things. Every year two plus two does not equal four. This year more or less repeated calendar and aims to reach over 100% Money "he says on the Canadian .

The Garmin -Sharp mix - year veteran runners have left Hunter, Zabriskie , Vandevelde and talent signings projection . "It is the philosophy of Vaugthers . He has always been good to catch young fruits and erupt . This year there are ten new faces , especially young people what they want" he says .

The Euskaltel -Euskadi disappearance has left the Spanish squad with one elite team , Movistar Team , so over him, going abroad , gave in his day is now bound by reality. "It's changing a lot especially because there is more to Movistar in the WorldTour . No choice but to people chestnuts look abroad. Besides cycling is globalizing lot , at teams in U.S., Australia and other countries. For example , Ricardo Garcia (ex racer Euskaltel- Euskadi) has come to Japan. We should not be afraid. Besides you're doing your job , you learn another culture and language , enriches you as a person and is another experience in life. It is not more than pedaling and do what you like " simplified. "One more year I like to do," he concludes .
