Roberto Ferrari was one of the many sprinters to lose a big chance in today's 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia but the Italian honestly admitted that he wouldn't have won the stage anyway. Having had bad legs all day, he now hopes to recover in time for the final two sprint opportunities.

Lampre-Merida was one of the many sprint teams that failed to bring back the break in today's 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia and so Roberto Ferrari missed a chance to continue his very consistent sprinting performances. However, the team had a very good reason not to contribute to the work as their sprinter was not feeling at his best.

"Today the pace in the peloton was not as strong as intentense in the finale as it has been in the other sprint stages," he said. "I am honest, it was not a great day for me. From the start, I realized that my legs were not as good as they have been in the other stages. I may have paid the price for yesterday's time trial.

"Even if we had caught the break I don't thing that I would have been able to sprint at the same level as I have done in the previous stages.

"There are not many opportunities left for the sprinters. I hope to be good in the mountan stages and get more energy so that I can try to get onto the podium at least one time."

Ferrari finished the stage in 16th.
