Dutch national team coach Johan Lammerts has announces the final selection for the upcoming World Championships held this year in northwestern Spain. Strong Grand Tour and classics specialists like Bauke Mollema, Tom Dumoulin or Tom Jelte-Slagter are expected to shine on a hilly course in Ponferrada, while names like Niki Terpstra, Lars Boom or Robert Gesink are biggest absentees of the orange squad.
The Netherlands will line up with exceptionally strong nine-man roster at the start of the road race in Ponferrada, with riders like Mollema, Dumoulin or Slagter being perfectly suited to hilly course.
Dylan van Baarle, Steven Kruijswijk and Stef Clement filled the last slots in the Dutch team as riders like Boom and Gesink decided against participating in the Spanish event, while Terpstra and national champion Sebastian Langeveld have to be regarded the biggest names left out of the squad by Lammerts.
