The final teams have been added to the start list for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race rounding out a 20-strong field for the inaugural event.

Richie Porte will spearhead Team Sky on the Great Ocean Road with fellow Tasmanian Nathan Earle and British teammates Pete Kennaugh, Luke Rowe and Ian Stannard.

Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling will be looking to capitalise on their impressive line-up of 2014 Japan Cup winner Nathan Haas (ACT), Kiwi Jack Bauer and Italians Moreno Moser, Davide Villella and American Alexander Howes.

Professional Continental team Androni Giocattoli–Venezuela will bring their all- Italian contingent to Geelong, buoyed by their wildcard entry to the Giro d’Italia. The team includes Franco Pellizotti, Tiziano Dall’Antonia, Alberto Nardin, Marco Frapporti and Marco Benfatto.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren welcomed the announcement of the final international teams to join the field for the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and also the addition of the Jayco-AIS National Under 23 team.

“The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race will provide a fantastic opportunity for the next wave of Australian riders to race against the world’s best professional riders,” Minister Eren said.

The team includes GreenEDGE bound duo Jack Haig (VIC) and Robert Power (WA) – earmarked this week by Cadel as ‘one to watch’ and the youngest rider in the race. Jack Beckinsale (NSW), Ryan Cavanagh (QLD), Harry Carpenter (SA) and Alex Clements (TAS) round out the team.

Richie Porte is particularly excited about sharing the road with Cadel on 1 February . “Riding with Cadel on the Great Ocean Road, now that’s going to be something pretty special,” he said.

“There’s been many trailblazers for Aussie cycling, but he’s probably the most successful Australian ever, so it’ll be cool in a few years time to say I rode with him in his final race.”

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race takes place on Sunday 1 February and is preceded but the Momentum Energy People’s Ride and Women’s Elite Race on Saturday 31 January.
