Mauro Finetto of the Neri Sottoli team finished as runner-up in the Italian race GP Coppa Sabatini. He couldn’t do anything to the winner Sonny Colbrelli, who showed off a very strong performance today. But Finetto is a bit sad with the result after the strong work by his Italian team-mates.
Finetto went in the sprint with 350 metres to the finish line and that turned out to be a bit too long for the Italian.
"Unfortunately, I went a bit long with 350 meters to the finish, I had to leave. I knew that I was fine and very sure of succeeding. I started strong but too early and I was passed at the end. I couldn’t have moved from behind again, so I knew I had lost it. The way the race turned out led me to sprint like this and it went well,” Finetto told the Neri Sottoli website.
“I'm sorry I have not finalized the great work of the team: my mates have been fantastic throughout the day. We controlled the race throughout the final, Monsalve helped me up the hill in third place. Could not be better. For this I am sorry. We came close ... But until Sunday, to the finish of the GP Beghelli, we will give 110%,” Finetto finished.
