Ruben Perez (1981) will be the second director of the Euskadi Basque Country - Murias Taldea team. He wil be reunited with manager Jon Odriozola whom he spent time with as a rider.

Ruben Perez had a 9-year career and did seven Tours de France and four Vueltas a Espana.

"I am very excited about this project. I think that when Euskaltel Euskadi disappeared, we lost one of the best teams in the world that united all the Basques. Now with this project we can get it back. Apart from that I think is also very important because young Basque riders can again dream of being professional, regain hope and bear the name of Euskadi worldwide. Now I can be part of this team and I will put all my enthusiasm into giving the riders a chance to do their best.”

Perez rode for Euskaltel-Euskadi between 2006 and 2013 and touched victories in races like the Vuelta a Espana, the Tour of Switzerland and the Eneco Tour. In 2015 he led the Café Baqué-Canned Campos team.

The Euskadi-Murias roster for 2016 has 14 riders: 9 returning riders (Aritz Bagüés (1989), Ander Barrenetxea (1992), Mikel Bizkarra (1989), Garikoitz Bravo (1989), Imanol Estevez (1993), Adrian Gonzalez (1991), Jon Ander Insausti (1992), Eneko Lizarralde (1993) and Beñat Txoperena (1991) – and five new riders –  Peio Olaberria (Specialized-Contador Foundation, 1994), Aitor Gonzalez (1990, Ampo), Mikel Iturria (1992, Euskadi), Alex Aranburu (1995, Café Baqué-Campos) and Gotzon Udondo (1993 , Café Baqué-Campos).
