Tom-Jelte Slagter will return to the Tour Down Under. It is a special race for the 27-year-old Cannondale-Drapac rider as he won both a stage and the overall in 2013.
"Nothing but great memories of my first and only presence in the Tour Down Under," Slagter writes on Twitter. "Excited to go back. Tour Down Under 2017, I'll be there! "
The Tour Down Under will be held from January 17-22.
As a third-year professional, Slagter made his in the WorldTour race in Australia. In the Blanco jersey, Slagter took his first professional victory at the highest level. He won the hilly stage to Stirling where he beat Matthew Goss and Philippe Gilbert.
Two days later on Old Willunga Hill, Slagter finished second and won the race overall one day later. He is the only Dutch winner of the race and is likely to share leadership with Michael Woods and Patrick Bevin in 2017.
