Just like his colleague at FDJ, Marc Madiot, Emmanuel Hubert is worried about the reform of the WorldTour. The manager of the Fortuneo Vital Concept team is just as concerned with what some describe as a neglect of the bottom of the pyramid. With ten WorldTour races in addition to the 27 already present in 2016, some fear for races of the lower categories and for the stability of the sport.
"I'm very scared,” he told our colleagues from Ouest France. “We are trying to make a pyramid without a base. So it's going to break things up. Today, we are riding on very shaky ground. The average age of the race organizers in France, and they are all friends, is more than 60 years. They are volunteers. If they are dissatisfied and they stop just for a single year, it's over. No one will take over. The UCI must realize that our sport has a history.”
Most team managers have raised their voices and shown their concern for several weeks and it is for this reason that the French National League recently decided to take the UCI to court.
