After announcing Eduardo Sepulveda, Chris-Anker Sørensen, Florian Vachon and Anthony Delaplace, Fortuneo-Vital Concept have selected another two riders for the Tour de France, Pierre-Luc Périchon and Vegard Breen.

Following the Route du Sud and the Tour de Savoie, Fortuneo-Vital Concept have placed their trust in Pierre-Luc Périchon and Vegard Breen for the Tour de France.

Like in last year’s Grande Boucle the team hopes to see Pierre-Luc Périchon continued his development.

"We want to see him in the breaks which are likely to stay away. I think the experience of a first grand tour will help in the approach to the Tour de France," explains sports director Sébastien Hinault. "His injury at Paris-Nice was a setback but we knew he could come back quickly. For us, he was almost an obvious choice but we needed to know his feelings in several races. After his victory and the work in the Tour de Savoie we have no doubt," concludes the sports director.

"Everything comes together,” says Pierre-Luc Périchon. “I returned to winning ways this weekend at the Tour de Savoie and today I am selected for the Tour de France. When it's like that, it's really a pleasure to ride a bike. After my crash, the team's staff reassured me. They allowed me to be calmer in my preparation and not force anything. Last year the goal was to finish the Tour and I geared all my efforts towards that target. This year I'm more focused on attacks that can go all the way and I can take more risks. I think good results are possible. I'm also starting to support Eduardo and try to get him to the bottom of the climbs in the best conditions. I want to progress individually and collectively.”

While Pierre-Luc Périchon has done one Tour, this will be a first for Vegard Breen who has a single participation in the Vuelta in his legs. Sébastien Hinault knows that he can count on the Norwegian in different areas, both on the climbs and in the sprints.

"He's a great teammate. Several times this year he has done a huge job for Dan McLay. At Route du Sud, he also showed that he can attack in the mountains. He climbed the Tourmalet in the top positions. He will support our leaders.”

"I am happy, excited and ready for this challenge,” Vegard Breen says. “For me, this is an amazing opportunity, a dream, and I consider myself lucky to be at one of the biggest races in the world. I definitely want to finish, try to join the breaks, and show the jersey while helping Eduardo and my leaders for the GC or stage wins.”

The three riders that will complete the Tour team will be announced after the National Championships. A place seems to be reserved for Dan McLay but the team's staff wants to check the evolution of his leg pain from the Route du Sud.

"Regarding Dan McLay, we await the results of various examinations and the British Championships. For the last two places, we have a hierarchy but we want to give us time to decide after the national championships," says Sébastien Hinault.
