Miguel Ángel López has been injured badly on Thursday after he crashed during a training ride. The 22-year-old Colombian broke his tibia and now faces a long rehabilitation according to a report in El Espectador.
The recovery will take sixteen to twenty weeks and so López will be set back in the preparation for the upcoming season.
The Astana rider can look back on a year of highs and lows. In June he won the Tour of Switzerland and he started the Vuelta a Espana as captain of the Astana team. Unfortunately, he had to abandon after six days because of another bad crash. The Colombian returned to a high level at the end of the season where he won Milan-Turin but now he faces another setback.
