After falling heavily in the first sector of cobbles during Sunday’s Paris-Roubaix, Aleksejs Saramotins (IAM Cycling) suffered a fractured left scaphoid.
The diagnosis was confirmed after the specialists at the Geneva University Hospital (HUG) examined the Latvian champion. Saramotins has been forced to relinquish any hope of racing the forthcoming Belgian semi-classics.
Rémi Cusin will take his place on the team roster for those races. Saramotins will be required to wear a special splint to aid in the healing process and will not be allowed to race for four weeks, though he will still be able to train.
