Heading into the final time trial and being up against far better time trialists, Mathias Frank (IAM) was the underdog in the close battle for the final spot on the podium at the Tour de Romandie but the Swiss did an excellent ride to miss out on the third place by just 12 seconds. The Swiss could not hide his disappointment but admitted that he would have signed for a fourth place before the race.
