IAM Cycling will be racing on three fronts for this first week of spring. In addition to the riders who will be on the road in Belgium and Spain, eight more of their teammates will be taking on the competition in Corsica.  Before taking up arms in the ASO’s Critérium International this coming weekend, the IAM Cycling riders will be competing and hoping to build a good foundation at the Classica Corsica, which is a new event on the calendar taking place between Ajaccio and Bastia.
 

Recently awarded a Bachelor Degree in Economics for his university studies which he conducted in parallel to his cycling career, Jonathan Fumeaux (27) is pleased to be returning to race on the beautiful island of Corsica for the second time. 

“The new event in Corsica will be a good warm up for the Critérium.  If the race is well controlled by the teams, it will likely end in a bunch sprint.  But nothing is certain on the narrow, winding roads of Corsica.  It is important always to remain at the front.”

Fumeaux, who comes from the Valais region in Switzerland, has very fond memories of the 2014 edition of the Critérium International. 

“Last year, Mathias Frank won a great stage at the top of the col de L’Ospedale.  He finished second overall, and won the points jersey as well as the best climber’s. And then with Sébastien Reichenbach, we were in the top-20.  For this edition, we again have a great team that will be capable of animating the race. 

"So far this year, I have not raced a ton, but there is a chain of fantastic events on the horizon for me, including the Tour of the Basque Country and the Tour of Romandie.  And the season is still long.  I have had good feelings in the training I have done at home, where the conditions have been ideal for a hard block of work.”
