Frederik Willems of Lotto-Belisol as to undergo a surgery after he crashed on a training ride this morning. The former winner of Three Days of De Panne and Etoile de Besseges suffers from a fractured shoulder blade.
But the shoulder blade isn’t the only problem for the Belgian rider. The crash near his hometown of Eeklo also made him suffer from rib fractures and a concussion. All these different injuries made Willems go to the local hospital in the Belgian town.
The Belgian has until now in the season been participating in races in the spring. Among others are Tour de San Luis, Tirreno-Adriatico, Dwars door Vlaanderen and World Ports Classic. He also rode the Criterium du Dauphine.
