Standing in front of the last opportunity to save a season marred by injuries, crashes and bad luck, Chris Froome hit the deck again even before the 2014 edition of Vuelta a Espana kicked off. Team Sky leader informed via his Twitter account that his wheel slipped on oil patch during the team time trial reconnaissance ride in Jerez de la Frontera, but apparently managed to escape unscathed this time around.
“Took a tumble on an oil patch going around one of them. Couldn't believe it, back on the deck again!!! All good though!,” Froome wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.
Only few minutes before hitting the deck, Team Sky leader complained about a twisty route of the Vuelta a Espana opening team time trial.
“Recce'd Saturday's TTT course today. Jerez must have more roundabouts than any other city in Spain if the race route is anything to go by!!”
