In the coming season, Chris Froome again wants to win in the Tour de France and also aims for two gold medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Brit regards it as a pity that this is the last year that he can compete against Alberto Contador.
Froome and Contador have been rivals in the grand tours in the last few years. After Contador has repeatedly hinted that 2016 is his final season but his British rival hopes that he will continue. "I want to continue my duels with Alberto with Contador in the coming years," Froome told Marca. "It's nice when you have a big rivalry between two cyclists who at the same time have a lot of respect for each other. That makes race game more beautiful and makes the wins more valuable."
This week Froome extended his contract until 2018. According to The Times, he will have an annual salary of 5.3 million euros which makes him the best paid cyclist in the world.
