Even though highly anticipated transfer of Omega Pharma – Quick Step Wout Poels to Team Sky still hasn’t been officially announced, the Dutch media hinted over a week ago that the deal has been already done. Without commenting on Dutchman’s arrival, Chris Froome confirmed that a strong rider will reinforce British team roster for the upcoming season. He also suggested that they may have to think over their preparations towards targeted events as they failed to reach most objectives in 2014.
Still having chances to take his first victory in the Vuelta a Espana with three more stages to go, Froome revealed that he is more focused on the upcoming season. As 2014 year turned out to be disastrous for Team Sky, the 29-year old Briton suggested that they may have to sit down with a team and reconsider their approach to training and race preparations.
“We all should take a breather,” Froome said, according to Vielerrevue.nl. “One success was followed by another in past two years. Now the time has come to weigh everything once again. Should we continue as before, or choose another preparation events? Simply, some fresh air is needed.”
Asked about Poels’ arrival, Froome refused to confirm or deny circulating rumours.
“A strong rider [will arrive], whom we may have a lot”
“We’ll see about that,” Team Sky leader answered when asked directly about the 26-year old Dutchman.
