In 2016, Chris Froome will focus on the Tour de France. The Sky leads points to La Grande Boucle if he had to choose between the Tour and the Olympic Games:
"If I have to choose between the Olympic Games and the Tour, I would take the Tour,” he tells La Gazzetta dello Sport. “For other sports, IT is different but for a cyclist the French race is the Holy Grail . I'd like to get five wins in my career like Anquetil, Hinault and Indurain. It will be difficult, but that's the dream."
However, the 2016 Tour de France 2016 will not be an easy.
"Quintana will probably be the main rival while Contador will not be tired after the efforts of the Giro. I hope he will continue beyond 2016. I don’t consider Aru as a mere outsider, but a real contender for the win. He won the Vuelta and finished on the podium in the Giro twice. His strength is his climbing but especially his head.”
Froome also opened the door for a possible participation in the Giro in 2017.
"To combine the Giro with the Tour is much more difficult than an attempt at the Giro-Vuelta or Tour- Vuelta. The choice will be influenced by many factors, ranging from the courses to the team. But I know that 2017 will be a historic Giro and this will be an extra incentive to think about it.”
