Vasil Kiryienka narrowly missed out on victory on the final stage at the Tour of Poland while Sergio Henao and Mikel Nieve secured top-10 finishes overall.
The race came down to a 25-kilometre time trial in Krakow and Kiryienka quickly put himself in the mix with a strong time, just 2.7 seconds back on the winning benchmark.
Second place was the end result for Kiryienka, with attention turning to a tight battle for the general classification, in which Sergio Henao began the final stage as leader.
The Colombian limited his losses well against the clock, but against a number of strong competitors Henao eventually finished the race eighth on GC, 54 seconds back on race winner Jon Izaguirre (Movistar).
Izaguirre jumped up five places on the leaderboard to take a narrow overall victory, fending off Bart De Clercq (Lotto Soudal) by just two seconds. Indeed the top six were split but less than 20 seconds in what proved to be a nail-biting finale.
After a series of strong performances on the climbs, Nieve also held on to take 10th overall, 1:32 back, after a spirited ride on the pan-flat city course.
Top honours on the day went to Marcin Bialbolocki, with the Polish National Team rider storming the course in a time of 28:45 which would not be beaten.
