Last Sunday John Gadret was satisfied with his second place in the second round of the Cyclo-cross Coupe de France.
"I scored some points for the French championships. This was the main goal because it's important to be well placed on the starting line," Gadret told Directvelo. He skipped the first round of the Cup France.
The French Championships could be the last race for the rider who won the title in 2004 and 2006. Will he continue until the end of the cyclo-cross season?
"I need to talk with the coach. But in any case I will decide when it is time to stop," he said.
From January 1, he will wear the jersey of the Cross Team by G4, which was launched by Steve Chainel. Before the French Champioships, he will do some races near his home.
"It was Steve who asked me to join him, Above all, he is a friend," said the 36-year-old rider.
John Gadret admits that he had hoped to continue his road career in 2016.
"The circumstances were that I found myself without a team. I know how cycling is. It's a hard business," he said.
The former third place finisher in the Giro d'Italia will keep fond memories of his last experience as a pro at Movistar.
"It was a highlight of my career. I worked alongside great champions. I will always remember it," he said.
Until December 31, he will represent Movistar in cyclo-cross.
"I'm happy now to be back in this discipline in which I turned pro," he said.
