The Belgian Championship takes place this week with the individual time trial on Thursday and the road race on Sunday. These races are one of Gaëtan Bille’s big goals.
"I’m looking forward to this race. I really want to do a great race on Sunday", Gaetan Bille says.
Last week Gaëtan Bille rode the Ster ZLM Toer, a five-days rac. He took 20th place in the general classification. "I didn’t feel so good. I was a little tired. I didn’t take any risks on Thursday and Sunday. I will recover now to be ready for the Belgian Championship."
Inthe time trial in Mol-Postel the Walloon rider hopes to get a spot in the top five.
"This is a race for powerful riders. A time trial in the Lacs de l’Eau d’Heure suits me better. If I have a good day, a top 5 is possible. If I have a super day, I can think about the podium. I will do my best and then I have two days to recover for the Sunday’s race."
Sunday's race is going to be very difficult with 35 climbs. The best riders won’t be able to hide themselves.
"This race looks like Liège-Bastogne-Liège with more than 4,000 vertical meters. The favourite is Greg Van Avermaet. This remains a special race. Tactics will be very important. I expect a great result", Gaëtan Bille concludes.
