Wanty-Groupe Gobert will participate this Sunday in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The winner of the Amstel Gold Race and fifth of the Flèche Wallonne Enrico Gasparotto will be the team captain. The rest of the team will line-up with Jérôme Baugnies, Marco Minnaard, Guillaume Martin, Gaëtan Bille, Mark McNally, Björn Thurau and Frederik Veuchelen.
For this 102nd edition, the weather could be the major factor of the race. Indeed, rain and cold are forecasted for this Sunday's classic. "It will be a mental race", said Gaëtan Bille.
For his first Doyenne as a pro, Guillaume Martin, winner of the U23-race in 2015 is going to ride a memorable edition. "When I think of the edition won by Bernard Hinault in 1980, this could be indeed a difficult race. I will gain experience. I will support Enrico Gasparotto. I hope to stay as long as possible with our team captain. Maybe, I can attack far away from the finish. It would be nice to have a rider at the front to anticipate for Enrico Gasparotto."
Team captain Enrico Gasparotto is in the form of his life and thinks about the victoiry in Ans. "It would be a dream to win the race. I hope I can achieve my dream. I have nothing to lose. The classic campaign has already been successful for our team", Enrico Gasparotto says.
The organization decided to add a new hill at the end of the race (Côte de la Rue Naniot – 600 metres – average gradient 10.5%). "It's a tough climb. This changes the race completely. I think it will be the key moment of the race. Many riders are afraid of this climb", Enrico Gasparotto admits.
