For the first time ever, Ben Gastauer will line up as the defending champion in a stage race at the Tour du Haut Var.

"I am happy to return to the Tour du Haut Var where I took my first victory as a pro last year with the first stage and the overall classification," he said. "For the first time in my career, I will wear bib number 1.

 
"This will be a special feeling, but it is not an additional stress. I consider it as an honor. The team have won the overall for two years and I hope that we will extend this series this weekend. We have a great team capable of great things."
