It took some time for Oscar Gatto to take the first win for Cannondale but now the Italian has definitely got the ball rolling. Today he won the second stage in three days and is convinced that the success proves that his first victory was not based on luck.

Oscar Gatto now has two wins under his belt at the Tour of Austria – stage two, Waidhofen/Ybbs to Bad Ischlfrom and stage four, Kitzbuhel to Matrei (172 km). Once again, Gatto won the bunch sprint leaving Juan José Lobato (Movistar) and Marco Haller (Katusha) in his dust.

“Well, this victory is simply…a very, very good result and something that makes me happy and proud to be part of this team,” said Gatto. “I knew I felt good, the feelings I had the days before the race were good and these results are the proof. Besides the good condition, the confidence I have, and my team’s support also played a key role. Also today my teammates did a great job and I have to thank them because they put me in the condition to win."

“I’m sure these two victories weren’t luck of the draw. In the first part of the season I worked well during the training but I always had no luck in races. Now that my efforts have been paid back, I want to continue to take other prestigious results. I know there are important events in my schedule and I want to keep this condition to do well,” added Gatto.

This is the Italian rider’s second win of the 2014 cycling season, and it is his 13th career win. This is the 14th win for Cannondale Pro Cycling since kicking off the season in January.
