Etixx-QuickStep have announced their line-up for the Heitste Pijl one-day race.
Starting in Turnhout, a small town located in the Antwerp province, Heistse Pijl will then take the riders to Heist-op-den-Berg, where a 17.5-km long circuit – that’s going to be covered eight times – will serve as the launchpad to victory, as it was the case also in the past. Twice winner of the race (2013-2014), each time after being involved in the day’s big breakaway, Tom Boonen will lead Etixx – Quick-Step at the 46th edition of the Belgian race, which will also mark Fernando Gaviria’s return to the peloton.
The young Colombian, who was forced to skip the Quatre Jours de Dunkerque and the Tour of California due to an injury, will look to test his condition in the 192.5-km long event, before taking on the Tour de Suisse next week. His countryman, Rodrigo Contreras, will also be part of the team, just two days after celebrating his 22nd birthday, as will Iljo Keisse, Yves Lampaert (second in Tuesday’s Gullegem Koerse), Nikolas Maes, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Julien Vermote.
