Gazprom – RusVelo keep building a strong team for the upcoming season and have announced that Russian rider Alexander Porsev has signed a contract. Porsev will be a part of Gazprom – RusVelo in 2017 and 2018.
Alexander Porsev was born in 1986 in Udmurtia. He started his career in the Katusha continental team and in 2010 he joined Team Katusha where he’s spent seven seasons. He has won a stage at the Tour de Luxembourg and this year he showed strong sprinting skills at the Giro d’Italia where he managed to be in the top-10 in all the flat stages. In 2014 Alexander Porsev was Russian National Champion.
Gazprom – RusVelo manager Renat Khamidulin says:
"We’ve known Alexander for a long time and we are confident in his sprinting skills. He has everything to win at the highest level and Gazprom – RusVelo will give him this opportunity. We keep building our sprint train, which will increase Alexander’s odds to take a win and it will definitely improve our results next year."
"I am very happy to sign an agreement with Gazprom – RusVelo. It’s a new chapter in my professional life. There is going to be an impressive squad next year, so we may think about winning something big. I’ll do my best to achieve solid results and reach the team’s goals," Alexander Porsev commented.
