The FDJ team got safely through the tenth stage of the Giro d'Italia one day after the rest day, a fact that always makes it harder. On a course without any major difficulty but with a tricky finale with a cobbled section in the last kilometer, Alexandre Géniez avoided the splits and Kevin Reza took fourteenth place.
Unexpectedly, the stage did not end with a bunch sprint as the peloton played too much with five Italian escapees. Young Nicola Boem (Bardiani-CSF) took the opportunity to take the spotlight.
"To start a Grand Tour after a rest day is never trivial," sports director Frédéric Guesdon ensures. "It was not easy to get back to racing for all of our riders but in the end the key is that Alexandre Géniez did not lose time in a finale that was not easy. Kevin Reza took fourteenth place in the stage. Here we go again for another week."
