A few days ago, Tao Geoghegan Hart (Axeon) showed he was strong on pro race. The British rider finished 7th place overall at the USA Pro Challenge and won the youth classification. A promising cyclist who has already signed on as a trainee with Team Sky earlier this month.
"For me, personally, I think I’m still weighing up options with people I have around me, supporting me, both friends and people in the team like Axel Merckx and other advisors that I have," he said according to Cyclingnews during the last press conference in Colorado.
He does not know where he will be in 2016 but he explained he is very excited by the Axeon program’s future. "Obviously, recently the team had a big announcement about next year’s future, with Specialized and Hagens Berman coming on board. So the prospects for the team are looking great and there’s massive excitement for the riders who aren’t aging out of the program that there’s going to be even more support next year."
He could not be present in France this week to compete the Tour de l'Avenir. "That’s kind of the point coming to these races is to compare yourself a little bit. For an under-23 rider it’s hard because l’Avenir, one of the biggest stages races for a young rider, clashes with this race. But that’s just how the program kind of falls out. It was a big decision to come here and test myself against some of the best riders in the world. So I’m very fortunate, and we’ll see what happens."
