During the last Tour de France, Geraint Thomas showed that he was strong in mountain stages. The Team Sky rider explained he is ready to skip Classic races in order to focus only on three-week stage races, especially the Tour de France.
"I’m not sure if I'll be doing [all] the Classics next year, maybe I'll just do Flanders," the Welshman told Cyclingnews. "It's something I've got to sit down and decide with the team. Stage racing is the route I'm thinking I want to go down though. Obviously we've got to sit down and work it out with the team, do a proper plan but I think that's where I’m heading at the moment."
He would like to be present at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. "I think with the Games, the Tour would work really well. Do some one-week races, then the Tour, then the Olympics and the end of season. But the Tour would be the main goal. Obviously Froomey is Froomey. But I'd love to be there as a protected rider behind him."
