While Linus Gerdemann’s comeback season in 2014 at MTN-Qhubeka was without much success due to numerous bouts of illness, the 33-year-old was back to his best in his first year in the Cult Energy jersey.
The big highlight for Gerdemann was certainly his overall victory in the Tour de Luxembourg in early June for which he laid the foundations by winning a stage. But with a fifth place finish at the GP Lugano, eighth place in Clasica Corsica and fourth place in Rund um Köln, Gerdemann showed his class numerous times.
"Overall my season balance is quite positive. The victory in Luxembourg was extremely important for the team and for myself," Gerdemann told radsport-news.com.
But he also had dome regrets. “I would have liked to have more victories because ultimately professionals are only gauged on their wins." Gerdemann missed out on such a success at the Trofeo Laigueglia in Italy when he was the last escapee to be caught only 100 meters from the finish. "But I also played a big role in Rund um Köln, Hamburg Cyclassics and the German Championships although the victory always eluded me," says Gerdemann who was 10th in the latter race.
For the 2016 season, Gerdemann has signed with the German-Danish Cult Energy-Stölting. After the surprising withdrawal of Cult Energy, this project is currently in danger and so Gerdemann’s future is currently uncertain.
