Belkin Procycling sports director Nico Verhoeven has confirmed that the Dutch team will line up at the possibly star-studded edition of the Vuelta a Espana with three protected riders Robert Gesink, Wilco Kelderman and Laurens Ten Dam, while their Tour de France leader Bauke Mollema is going to race in North America.
“We are going to do the Vuelta with Gesink, Kelderman and Ten Dam,” Verhoeven told NU.nl.
It is going to be the first grand tour appearance for Gesink since last year’s French three-week event and cardiac surgery he underwent this spring, while both Kelderman and Ten Dam will be eager to build upon their promising performances in the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France respectively.
In the same time Belkin Tour de France leader Mollema, who was rumored to join Trek Factory Racing for 2015 season, will follow Gesink’s race schedule from last year and feature in the events held in North America.
“He has different schedule this year, although this could always be changed in the final week of the Tour. He’s probably going to Canada, following the programme which Gesink did last year.”
