Robert Gesink will have an unusual role in tomorrow's Worlds road race. This year the 29-year old rider is not the leader of the Dutch team but will ride in service of Niki Terpstra. However, that's no big problem for the Dutchman.
"Niki's very good. I have no problem to ride as a domestique for him," he told De Telegraaf. "I immediately agreed when coach Johan Lammerts asked me if I would play a secondary role in this race."
Along with Bauke Mollema he will have to attack. "Bauke and I have to go ahead so that other countries have to do the dirty work. And the other riders must be as fresh as possible in the final.e. We know that Niki is good at positioning himself. Then everything is possible," he predicted.
This will be his sixth participation. His best performance dates back to 2008 when he was tenth in Varese. He skipped last year's race due to personal problems.
