Unlike the friendly match between Belgium and Spain, the 75th edition of the Six Days of Ghent will kick off tonight. However, there are additional security measures in Het Kuipke.
Because of the public interest, the race is in the category of events with an increased safety risk (Level 3).
"But everything takes place as planned," says press officer Chris Vannoppen. "If there will be any other decision, it will be communicated as soon as possible."
Already yesterday, the organizers decided to apply additional safety measure after the terrorist attacks on Friday in Paris.
"The number of security personnel will be raised," said organizer Rob Discart. "They will check the public. Back bags and travel bags are banned. Furthermore, there will be dogs that specialize in detecting possible explosives.”
