Coach Addy Engels (NED) and Team Giant-Alpecin will part ways in 2016 after having worked together since 2012. Engels has been a respected member of the coaching staff and made a significant contribution to the team’s success.
CEO Iwan Spekenbrink said, “As a team we are constantly looking for an optimal way of working, and as a consequence we are optimizing and developing the structure of our coaching staff. For that reason we have strengthened our coaching staff with three new coaches for 2016.”
Engels recently expressed his wish to the management to move on to another team where he will have the opportunity to grow his career, for which the team showed its support. Engels is leaving the team on good terms, and the team wishes him all the best in his career.
“I have had four beautiful seasons at Team Giant-Alpecin, where I have learned a lot and was able to develop as coach,” said Engels. “Now I am looking forward to a new challenge.”
According to De Telegraaf, Engels will join LottoNL-Jumbo.
