There is a risk that Philippe Gilbert will play no role in today's Fleche Wallone. At leat, that's what the BMC leader indicatd when he talked to the press yesterday.
"I think Fleche Wallonne is a fun race but my head is already in Liege," he told Het Nieuwsblad. "For me Fleche Wallonne i always the same. For 80% of the race, I feel bad. Only ten kilometers from the finish, my legs usually wake up.That will be no different tomorrow. If I am in front in the finale, I want to go for a second victory."
Gilbert does not fear that the efforts of Flèche Wallonne will cost him in Liege."If I did not participate in Flèche Wallonne, I would have to do a workout. So I may as well start Fleche Wallonne. My rivals have the same approach too. But I will only decide whether to be in the mix in the fight for victory when we get to the end of the race."
