A few days before the official presentation of the route for the Giro d'Italia, the stage schedule has already been leaked. The Italian website  Cicloweb  has found a picture with the details on the official website. As it has been known for some time, the race will start with three stages in the Netherlands.

Other rumors about the route are confirmed by the scehdule. In total there are three individual time trials (Apeldoorn, Chianti, Alpe de Siusi), two mountain stages in the Apennines and four stages in the Alps. It includes a finish in the French city of Risoul. The riders will travel from south to north.

The Giro will begin on a Friday which is unusual for a grand tour. However, like in 2014, the race needs an extra day to move everything to Italy  on Monday, May 9. As a result, there are three rest days instead of two.
