The start of the Giro d’Italia 2013 in Naples is fast approaching and in yet another video released by the organizers we discover the expectations of the main contenders for the “Trofeo Senza Fine”.
Five cycling champions, Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp), Bradley Wiggins (Sky), Vincenzo Nibali (Astana), Ivan Basso (Cannondale) and Samuel Sánchez (Euskaltel-Euskadi) reveal their approaches to the 2013 Giro, their plans, strategies and some of their secrets as they try to win the coveted Maglia Rosa.
The Canadian Ryder Hesjedal is motivated by cementing his reputation after his great victory of last year. The Briton Bradley Wiggins wants to impress the world and prove that he is the strongest even on the steep slopes of the Corsa Rosa after winning the Tour de France in 2012. Vincenzo Nibali, after his victory in the Vuelta 2011 and podiums at the Giro and the Tour, believes the time has come to get on the top step of the podium in his native country. Ivan Basso is aiming to win his third Giro. Finally, the Spanish former Olympic champion, Samuel Sanchez, wants to impress the fans with surprise attacks to overcome his rivals.
