The Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team had a good race at the Classic Sud-Ardeche. The final victory went to Sepulveda (Bretagne Séché) while David Arroyo finished 13th. The rider from Talavera de la Reina was part of the decisive breakaway and took many risks in an attempt to win the race until the very end.
Josemi Fernández, the team director, analysed the race: “The start was very fast, the team tried up until the escape took place around kilometre 45. We were not in it, then Etixx took control of the peloton.
"We leave the race happy, we’ve only had a week off between races and some of our riders have the flu, others haven’t been able to train as much as they needed to due to the rain like Heiner [Parra] in Pamplona. Hugh Carthy was unable to finish the race as he didn’t feel well.
"Arroyo had a good race and held on right up to the end. This gives us hope for the next one, David is enthusiastic and his legs are in top shape. Pardilla, although he didn’t leave with the greatest feeling, had a good day and Eduard Prades is in good shape and the race is well suited to his characteristics. It is never an easy task but we have to go out there and try to win the race, and let’s see what happens."
