After three disappointing seasons in the Australian outfit, Matthew Goss is set to leave Orica-GreenEDGE what has been recently confirmed by team manager Matt White.
Before signing with Orica, Goss was regarded one of the most promising fast finishers of his generation, becoming the first ever Australian to win the Milano-Sanremo – his career’s greatest achievement to date.
Unfortunately, the 27-year old sprinter failed to live up to such expectation as he managed to claim only three stage victories since he has joined the Australian squad in 2012 season.
In the beginning of the current season Orica-GreenEDGE manager made it clear that Goss needs to improve his performances in order o stay in the team, but apparently it didn’t provide the 27-year old with enough motivation to turn things around.
"We have twenty six guys locked in and there are only a couple of guys leaving the team with one of them being Matthew Goss," Matt White told Cyclingnews.
Reportedly, having already signed Edvald Boasson Hagen and being close to cut a deal with Theo Bos (Belkin Procycling), MTN-Qhubeka expressed their interest in Goss, alongside Steve Cummings (BMC) and Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp).
