Th Italian Cycling Federation published on Tuesday a 14-rider long list for the men's road race at the next World Championships in Richmond, Virginia. Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Diego Ulissi (Lampre-Merida) are among the riders who have made the cut alongside sprinters Elia Viviani (Team Sky), Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek Factory Racing) and Kristian Sbaragli (MTN-Qhubeka).
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Davide Cassani has named 14 riders for the Worlds but only 11 – 9 starters and 2 reserves – will make the trip to Richmond. The Italian national selector added that the final selection will not be made until after the Coppa Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi races this week. For the women's road race, Giorgia Bronzini, Elena Cecchini and Elisa Longo Borghini lead the long-list.
