André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) was second in the sprint on stage 4 of the Tour of Britain but like in the previous stages, it was not his plan to do the sprint.
"In the beginning of the stage we tried to attack several times but we failed," sports director Bart Leysen said. "Later Frederik Frison did a very good job in the chase behind the leaders. André wanted to work Jens [Debusschere] but unlike yesterday he would serve as the final lead-out instead of Marcel Sieberg. Unfortunately, Jens lost his wheel and he did not return in time for the sprint. André had done a serious effort and instead of sitting up, he suddenly had to sprint. Unfortunately, Gaviria passed him. Tomorrow there will probably not be a sprint but then we will get more chances."
